I have one myself, and they are amazing dogs. Probably the only reason I will ever watch Prometheus. I suppose we're meant to believe that the engineers wanted us dead because we'd gotten too big for our britches -- too smart -- but if these jerks pass for smart in the future, then we're doomed.Strange Casehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12344258247387077038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1327458913671357174.post-82485943773152361262012-06-10T10:21:42.872-05:002012-06-10T10:21:42.872-05:00i was hoping you would write about Prometheus and ...i was hoping you would write about Prometheus and you did not disappoint. I have to say that I dug it while I was watching it, despite the poor character motivation, but post-viewing reflection has made it almost impossible to ignore the problems. One Science-Overreaching film that I don't think you mention in your blog post was Jurassic Park, which I kept thinking about in terms of the scientists and Weyland's character. I could not understand why it would be a secret he was on board for so long. What's the harm in them knowing he's there? I could not figure out why they were REALLY going to this planet. Did David at some point just decide he was over the humans all together and start fucking with shit of his own accord? As you mentioned, no one seemed particularly excited to be there despite the tremendous discovery. I couldn't tell if humanity had encountered a lot of extra-terrestrial life before. I couldn't believe the two main scientists waited until after they got all the way out there to discuss with Charlize what the mission actually was. I mean, the list just goes on and on and you detailed the points well. It also didn't make sense to me why the aliens would tell ancient civilizations where their weapons stock pile moon is located. Why would that info be helpful? Ah well.I did like that the automated operating table was programmed to be Pro-Life. That was hilarious. The movie seemed to make a strong case that the Engineers were done with humanity because we were not as intelligent offspring as they had hoped we would be.SuperOTMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12629157354630202333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1327458913671357174.post-15946177854012407452012-06-10T10:18:40.750-05:002012-06-10T10:18:40.750-05:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.SuperOTMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12629157354630202333noreply@blogger.com
